Week 5 Part B: Learning about FaceBook Data Collection

On FaceBook they track these two items:

    • post reach, where what you post reaches out to an audience, and
    • post engagement, where the viewer actually somehow connects with the post, either by liking, sharing or commenting on it.

1. Why are each of them important?

Post reach is the number of people who saw a specific post in their news feed, so for every post you posted, you can see how many people you reached. When you want to improve SNS posts to have more people to reach, this is an effective way to know which posts would have more people reached. Post engagement is also important to promote your product to consumers and get a lead through social media because as engagement grows, so does the possibility that your posts will go viral. The more people who see your posts, the more opportunities you will have for your business to expand.

2. What can you learn from each?

The number of people who saw the message is shown in the reach column, and you can learn how many clicks, likes, and charges a post got in the interaction column. Those data helps you find out what kinds of posts people respond to the most. You can learn user activities on your posts from post engagement. They provide social media proof for your business, making you seem more credible to your audiences.

3. Describe how a business can use Facebook Insights to better serve their customers.

It gives you detailed analytics for your Facebook page, so you can use the data effectively to better serve your customers. Especially, you can consider what works, how people engage with your content, and how to develop your performance over time based on the Insights data. You can also compare your previous posts and the revised posts to upgrade over and over.

5. Add a note on whose FaceBook pages you commented on.
